I started with a plain white gift bag. It came in a set of 3, from WalMart, for around $1.50.
Using this tutorial: http://www.craftjr.com/spring-tissue-paper-flowers/
I created the tissue paper flower.
After cutting out the pieces of tissue paper in abstract flower shapes (I say abstract because they definitely weren't perfect), just place them on top of each other and attach.
The tutorial used a pipe cleaner, but I just went through with white thread. I attached a little jute twine for a little added interest.
You can see how I just sewed the flower on here:
Then just crumple up the petals as much as you can and uncrumple for a wrinkled look.
Since I'd purchased this tissue paper to go INSIDE the bag, this adornment didn't cost anything extra. There was more than enough to make the flower.
Right now this cute little bag is on it's way to Brodie's teacher. We've been blessed with a crazy, sometimes difficult child, and doubly blessed with a teacher that is a perfect match for his personality. I hope she likes her thank you. :)
