The different house, 5 years and 2 kids later, right as we were listing it on the market to sell- which we lost money on, by the way... grrrr. Darn housing market.
Anyway, the best thing about this house, by far, was the master bedroom closet. For being such a small house, the closet was huge. I loved that we could put our dressers in the closet and have extra room in our bedroom.
These before pictures are pretty bad, so excuse the mess. Things were just sort of thrown around, knowing that everything was about to get ripped out.
Looking to the right from the doors-
A little further to the right-
While the space was good, the setup was bad. The wire shelves were saggy and didn't inspire organization.
Looking to the left- This was my side that had already gotten removed. You can still see the metal brackets on the wall.
Straight ahead from the doorway.
Yikes, right? haha. You can believe that those particle board dressers went straight to the dump after this was over.
A few during -
My husband works best with a Corona in his hand. LOL. You wouldn't believe how many photos I have of him doing jobs around the house while drinking beer. I'm surprised everything turns out level and flush. haha!
This is 'His' side, with all of the JUNK removed.
Back to the left, to my side- at this point we'd replaced the one wire rod (not a good use of space), with two wooden rods. Much better for shirts, skirts, and pants. It also has a fresh coat of paint.
Out comes the carpet! Can you say dusty mess? yuck.
After installing the new cabinets and starting the tile work-
The cabinets were inexpensive, unfinished, in-stock cabinets from Home Depot. The taller one we used as a linen closet since our house didn't have one, and my husband and I each had four drawers in the smaller ones. We coated the cabinets in ebony wood stain, which dried to a lovely finish. They were still wet in these photos. The countertop was an in stock Formica counter, also from Home Depot. If I remember correctly, it was under $50. Super affordable.
And finally, a good before and after....
Same view after:
Before..
Same view, after-
We also brought the tile out into the main bathroom, and added a little tile rug for interest.
The end. :)
Now if only we had the time and money and energy to makeover our small closet in this house. Maybe one day!

Looks fabulous! Maybe that's what my hubby needs - a Corona while tackling home projects.
